Who I am

I'm Rielle Berglund, founder of Matilda Tree Finance and a practising mortgage broker in Australia. I have over ten years of experience in banking and small business, and I now specialise in home loans for single parents, women navigating life transitions, first home buyers and self employed Australians.

Why I built Matilda Tree Finance

The honest version: I tried to buy a house while running my own business, and the experience was awful.

Appointments I couldn't fit around work. Lenders who didn't know what to do with a self employed application. Research that ate weekends. The whole process felt designed for someone with a payslip, a partner, and forty unspoken hours of admin time. I had none of those things.

That experience stuck with me. Not because it was unique, but because I realised how many other people were quietly going through the same thing. Single parents trying to buy on one income. Self employed Australians being treated as a risk instead of a real applicant. Women rebuilding after separation, navigating finance for the first time on their own.

Matilda Tree Finance exists to take the heavy lifting off people who already have enough on their plate.
